Jake Kuhn 1,579 #1 Posted December 9, 2014 Hi All, Added another horse to the herd last night. I got an email from a guy about a week ago who had a ranger that was his dads who had passed away a few years ago. He wanted it to go to a collector, and somehow found my website through a google search. We ended up making a deal on it and met last night to go pick it up. It is a 67 l107 ranger. Its in decent shape, needs some work, but i've never bought a tractor that didn't. Doesn't have the original motor, this one was put on it from the 80's it runs ok, but the way it is setup it always runs at the same speed, I think I will need to find the original style governor parts and a carburetor for it, because for just riding around I don't want it to always run full throttle. It has a plow that is decent shape, chains, a fairly nice mower deck and the original manual. I plan to get this one complete and everything working correct, and degrease everything.

KC9KAS 4,744 #8 Posted December 9, 2014 Great find Jake....Haven't heard anything from you lately! I have a 654 that the PO put a newer/large engine into it and the hood was cut and lengthened about 10"....really shody looking, but I found the correct engine & hood.

Pullstart 66,641 #11 Posted December 10, 2014 that's a cool way to mount the plow... I'm sure it's not as worthy as the rear mount blades eh? it looks a lot like one of those MTD snow blower engines.
Jake Kuhn 1,579 #12 Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks all! Great find Jake....Haven't heard anything from you lately! I have a 654 that the PO put a newer/large engine into it and the hood was cut and lengthened about 10"....really shody looking, but I found the correct engine & hood. Thanks ken, I've been around, just haven't posted as much as I used to. I have been trying to keep my 59 thread up to date though. Glad you got her Jake! Are you gonna post the restore? Thanks Geno! I will try and post what I do to it, but its not gonna change much, not going to restore it, just clean it up and get it correct, and for degreasing it it will probably have to wait until spring until I can use the pressure washer over at the farm. I did take it part way apart today and try scrubbing it some with just a good ole rag and water and it cleaned up a little bit, probably as far as I will get this time of year as far as a clean up. that's a cool way to mount the plow... I'm sure it's not as worthy as the rear mount blades eh? it looks a lot like one of those MTD snow blower engines. These are a little different from the rear axle blades, but still a pretty rugged design. And Yeah, I would agree on it maybe coming off a snowblower or I have seen them on generators too.

Jake Kuhn 1,579 #18 Posted December 13, 2014 Haven't made much progress on this one, but cleaned it up a little bit. Currently searching for a gas tank and some governor parts but may have found them. Here's a shot of it with the hood on, doesn't look too bad! Also, seen a new kohler command 8 horse on craigslist today for a good price...that is kind of tempting me, guess it will just depend on what it would end up costing to get the parts needed for this techie.

Lane Ranger 11,394 #20 Posted December 13, 2014 Jake: Looks great and looks like you won't need to buy a hood gasket from me! Very rare to see the gas tank hole hood gasket in such good shape after 40 years!

Jake Kuhn 1,579 #22 Posted December 13, 2014 Jake, what tecky parts are you looking for?? Terry, I just need a correct gas tank and mount, and I believe I need the governor setup as this one is the always run the same speed type, but I'm going to play with it some tomorrow. I have Papke checking on parts for me tomorrow, if he doesn't have what I need I'll put a wanted ad up here.
