Looks like a nice little ranger. My dad bought a commando 6 that had the same style carburetor/governor linkage on it we ended up swapping it out too

Nice find and story Jake. It's so cool that the guy wanted it to go to a collector.

Great find Jake....Haven't heard anything from you lately!

I have a 654 that the PO put a newer/large engine into it and the hood was cut and lengthened about 10"....really shody looking, but I found the correct engine & hood.

that's a cool way to mount the plow... I'm sure it's not as worthy as the rear mount blades eh?  it looks a lot like one of those MTD snow blower engines.

Thanks ken, I've been around, just haven't posted as much as I used to. I have been trying to keep my 59 thread up to date though.

Thanks Geno! I will try and post what I do to it, but its not gonna change much, not going to restore it, just clean it up and get it correct, and for degreasing it it will probably have to wait until spring until I can use the pressure washer over at the farm. I did take it part way apart today and try scrubbing it some with just a good ole rag and water and it cleaned up a little bit, probably as far as I will get this time of year as far as a clean up.

These are a little different from the rear axle blades, but still a pretty rugged design. And Yeah, I would agree on it maybe coming off a snowblower or I have seen them on generators too.

Haven't made much progress on this one, but cleaned it up a little bit. Currently searching for a gas tank and some governor parts but may have found them. Here's a shot of it with the hood on, doesn't look too bad! Also, seen a new kohler command 8 horse on craigslist today for a good price...that is kind of tempting me, guess it will just depend on what it would end up costing to get the parts needed for this techie.

Jake:  Looks great and looks like you won't need to buy a hood gasket from me!

Very rare to see the gas tank hole hood gasket in such good shape after 40 years!

Terry, I just need a correct gas tank and mount, and I believe I need the governor setup as this one is the always run the same speed type, but I'm going to play with it some tomorrow. I have Papke checking on parts for me tomorrow, if he doesn't have what I need I'll put a wanted ad up here.
