JimmyZ 176 #1 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) I just picked up this 1995 314 hydro. Doesn't look to bad after a cleanup. I've been adjusting the linkage from the Fwd/Rev lever to the cam plate on top of the hydro unit. The 314 was real slow in reverse. Now it's better but I lost some foward speed. I'll get it. This 314 has the Eaton 1100. Edited December 9, 2014 by JimmyZ

JimmyZ 176 #5 Posted December 9, 2014 When I got the tractor I think the prior owner mowed thru saw dust for a month straight. A little compressed air and WD40 sprayed liberally on the tractor and wiped off with a rag works wonders.

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #9 Posted December 9, 2014 This one may be trading goods for a model FD
Pollack Pete 2,273 #10 Posted December 9, 2014 Nice tractor. Is the model actually designated as 314H or 314A? I have a 314 with a busted connecting rod and I think mine is a 314A.Just wondering if they made two different ones.Have fun with your new toy. 14 horse Kohler Magnum, right? Ken B 3,189 #11 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) I think my brother Dave finally gets it, MAYBE... One Wheel Horse can do the job of 4 Simplicity's! I don't know about that FD trade Steve, Dave and myself have a long standing brotherly agreement, we always give each other first dibs on anything we sell or trade.. That 314 did clean up pretty nice, I knew it would. Didn't you mention to me it has roughly 500 hrs. on it? You will lose a little forward speed when you make adjustments for more reverse speed. My 420 fly's in forward but is a little slower than normal in reverse. I won't be pushing snow with the 420 so this doesn't concern me... But, I am looking for another 3 or 4 series worker... A block buster is always just a phone call away.. Nice tractor. Is the model actually designated as 314H or 314A? Wheel-N-It 2,976 #15 Posted December 9, 2014 That cleaned up really nicely. The 314Hydros are a good tractor. They have just enough power to run a hydro without noticeably bogging the engine down. Good luck with it!
JimmyZ 176 #16 Posted December 9, 2014 The tractor is a 314H with the Kohler Magnum 14. Hey Steve since this is a Wheel Horse and not a Simplicity I was thinking a trade more along the lines of a certain Crestliner.

JimmyZ 176 #18 Posted December 10, 2014 I got the hydro fwd/ rev speeds all sorted out now. The 314 also came with a 48 in snow blade but I prefer the 42 inch blade as most of the driveway I'm pushing snow up hill.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #19 Posted December 10, 2014 Come on Dave !!! That thing is nice and all but it is not a 420 LSE....
