whtractors24 3,336 #1 Posted December 9, 2014 I have a k181 c81 over charging the rectifier /regulator looks original all wiring is correct went through it on the wiring diagram.... I am getting mid 16s V to at the battery with a fluke amp meter.? Is it possible the rectifier regulator is bad and is not dropping the voltage enough ? rmaynard 16,211 #2 Posted December 9, 2014 Make sure that the regulator/rectifier is securely grounded.
whtractors24 3,336 #3 Posted December 9, 2014 I'm pretty sure all terminals are clean bob... If it has a bad ground on the rectifier it will over charge. Or to bypass it I have leads can I ground the rectifier from its chassis to the battery ?
rmaynard 16,211 #4 Posted December 9, 2014 The body of the recitifer needs to be grounded. Try cleaning a fin on the rectifier, take a jumper wire with alligator clips, attach one end to that cleaned fin and the other to the (-) lug of the battery. A poor ground will cause the recifier to output a higher than normal voltage.
