Horse46 519 #1 Posted November 17, 2014 Can anyone tell me how far up the dip stick oil should be on full, mine doesn't have any marks on it and I'm filling through the dip stick hole with a pump system so can't measure the amount going in. Thanks It's a C-
Don1977 605 #2 Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) I don't have a C-101, I do have a 312-8 with a long dip stick tube. The full mark comes up 1" on the stick. The oil dip stick is 13" long from tip to top of cap. You may need to measure it to see if it's all there. I also have a C-120 with short tube and both have cross hatch up to the full mark. The full mark on both is up 1". Edited November 17, 2014 by Don1977
Horse46 519 #3 Posted November 18, 2014 Hmmm? My dip stick is a mere 12 inches o er misses. Can't think why that would be, so I guess if it just touches the bottom of the stick it will be on full mark?
Geno 1,929 #4 Posted November 18, 2014 (edited) I just went out and measured half a dozen dipsticks, round screw in, push in, different lengths, etc. Seems the full mark is 1 1/4" from the bottom on all of them. Edited November 18, 2014 by Geno
formariz 12,040 #5 Posted November 20, 2014 I read that on a kohler engine full is when oil is 3/8" above pan gasket. That measurement coincides with the full mark on every kohler I have.
formariz 12,040 #6 Posted November 20, 2014 Oops I guess we are not talking engines.
Anglo Traction 761 #7 Posted November 20, 2014 If your Tractor is a C101, then it should be a 1978-ish model which has a 103916 type 8 speed Tranny. It takes 2US Quarts which is equal to a tad under 1.9ltrs. Your Tranny is also fitted with Fill plug on the left rear corner nearly under the left Axle. If you have an iffy Dipstick, take out the fill plug and fill tranny up to the level of the Fill Plug. Then check with the Dipstick and put a mark where the Oil comes up to on it...... and your done!.

When I pulled that "fill plug" oil came pouring out like it was way over the outlet, and it was about an inch showing on the stick.
rmaynard 16,289 #9 Posted November 20, 2014 The plug on the side is not the drain. The drain is on the bottom, just in front of and to the left of the hitch. It should be a recessed Allen head plug.
Don1977 605 #10 Posted November 20, 2014 Two quarts will fill the transmission up past the plug on the side.
