wheelhorsekid 141 #1 Posted November 12, 2014 I found a C-161 8 speed locally for $1300. It's been completely restored and orginal engine rebuilt. Doesn't come with any attachments. Does anyone tho k this is high? I know it's supply and demand and I haven't found one in a while. I have a C-161 hydro I paid $285 for so I think I got spoiled. Let me know your thoughts. Geno 1,929 #2 Posted November 12, 2014 Way too high. You're better off restoring them yourself also.
MalMac 1,332 #3 Posted November 12, 2014 For that price it should be a new one still in the crate. Somebody is dreaming.
wheelhorsekid 141 #4 Posted November 12, 2014 I agree. Does anyone know of another one for sale? I sold mine earlier in the year for $400 and regret it. No more selling for me. Only buying :)
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,411 #5 Posted November 12, 2014 That tractor sounds like one a few members here have owned and may still own. If it is the tractor I am thinking it is then $1300 is not that far off the right price.
BOWTIE 226 #6 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) I JUST LISTED MY 1979 C161 8 SPD ON CRAIGSLIST FOR $400 WITH NO ATTACHMENTS. IT RUNS GOOD, NO SMOKE BUT LOOKS BAD. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN RESTORE IT FOR $900. I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON WHOSE LABOR AND HOW NICE DO YOU WANT IT. Tankman 3,520 #7 Posted November 12, 2014 Price seems way up there. My '85 416-8 was a third of what he's asking. Really nice Horse? You want it? Offer half of what he's askin' then walk.
baerpath 517 #8 Posted November 12, 2014 One question What type of restore was it ? Different people have different ideas what a restore is. If it's what I consider correct restore that maybe a great price.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,411 #9 Posted November 12, 2014 I think this may have been the one that kenb got at the show from Dale's at the Big Show . It was a really clean tractor for sure.
wheelhorsekid 141 #10 Posted November 12, 2014 I made a mistake, it's $1200. Here's a link to the CL ad. edit- I deleted the link. Per the rules we cannot post links to for sale ads that are not yours. That tractor is the tractor that I was referring to. It is currently owned by a member here who is looking to sell it. Racinbob 11,788 #14 Posted November 12, 2014 I just found that ad. It's hard to tell just how nice it is from the pictures but it does look nice. In my opinion that's too much especially without any attachments. You've got a lot of Wheel Horses to choose from in your area. I'd keep looking.
