KC9KAS 4,744 #2 Posted November 4, 2014 The 16 Auto is a 1973. Starting in 1974 they were called C-160. Not that well educated on any other differences.
wheeledhorseman 579 #3 Posted November 4, 2014 According to details in the model list the 1973 '16' auto was fitted with the Sundstrand 90-2046 transmission, the 1974 C-160 auto was fitted with the Sundstrand 90-1140 which was used through till 1978 when the C-161 replaced the C-160. oldredrider 2,553 #4 Posted November 4, 2014 The no name had the dcl on the console. The 160 has it on the side of the hood stand. Basically the same model.
tbarnhart 240 #5 Posted November 4, 2014 Not much difference other that the decals between the '73 no-name tractors and their '74-'75 C-series counterparts. In '76 they changed the rear fender support and revised the rear lift to use a rockshaft, Pretty much the same tractor. All hitches and attachments will interchange. groundhog47 347 #7 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Prob biggest fact was AMC wanted a new image/name (on what was already known reliable) to enhance sales and make it easier to denote size (frame, capabilities). Then someone decides to throw a curve with the 2, 3, 4, 500 series, and all the rest, wow, Toro musta liked that since continued on. But if you like it; it meets your expectations and price is right, just mark it up as an older brother and bridle'r up for the trip to a new pasture! Callen 64 #8 Posted November 4, 2014 My 16 Auto has a piston-piston but, it may have been replaced. It also has the 10 pinion limited slip differential.
