C- series decks

Hi all, would I be right in thinking that a mowing deck from a C-121 would fit my C-101 or any C series come to that?

First, :text-welcomewave: to :rs: and I would say yes to that. As you get further back in years the attachment was different, but somewhat stabilized in late 60's early 70's and continued on prob past 80's, unsure.

Peruse through this manual for rhe various interchanges and upgrades to get an idea keeping in mind model numbers changed, but basic unit and attachment remain same:

Then you can go in manuals and pick out individual models and compare by pictures and part numbers or attachment hardware.

Thanks for the welcome, and the info.

Armed with the info, I return more confused than before?

I found model numbers relating to what fits what, and found a supposed C series deck with a number that doesn't relate.

From what I can gather I need 85-42ms01 or anything pre fixed 85-??? But the deck in question is E542MR01

What am I missing. Go easy i"ll get upset........not.

This one?

5 = mower

42 = width of cut

MR = mower rear discharge

MS = mower side discharge

01 = parts list identifier

There are exceptions to the above. The E was likely used to signify different decals for the European market and the deck may be identical to 05-42MR04.

65, 75, 85, 95 and 05 were used 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980 and then 05 was used for more years.

The A5 decks were used on the WorkHorse models and identical to those used on the Wheel Horse models at the time. They wanted to record what decks went to what and there is a service bulletin explaining it.

Do you have the deck 'in hand'? or are you wanting to find one? or?  Off hand I would think it would be a direct cross over, if any differences would possibly be minor hanger variations.

The only other thing would be the PTO belt. If the deck is a different size than the original, it might need a larger (or smaller) belt.

Gary what you say makes sense, although that link isn't working for me?

Pacer, I haven't sight of the deck I just know it needs a bit of welding around one of the bearings. Just know it's for a C-121

I believe new decks are still available? but would imagine not what im prepared to pay.

Besides I'd rather mend n make do.

Gary the link is fine, it just doesn't work on my iphone. Yes that is the deck I'm looking at, E for European as I'm in the UK also adds up.
