BPjunk 184 #1 Posted October 14, 2008 It was a rough trip up to Pennslyvania. First off ifn's your not feeling well when ya' leave on a trip don't think your gonna get over the illness, by friday at the Steam O Rama show I was in some kinda pain and required medical treatment! Any how back to the horse rustlin story ...... we cancelled a show in Maryland do to rain so a trip to a Wheel Horse dealer here in Virginia was made. This dealer had some old Wheel Horses but it was parts I was looking for a and parts is what I found! A 1961 Suburban cast iron clutch arm was found NOS along with a few other small parts that were boxed up and put in the back of the truck. I will go back help this dealer with their inventory and then post a list of parts for sale. (a lot of old engine parts at this dealership) From Virginia we headed north to Pee Ya, it rained hard most of the night and a stop for hotel room in Breezwood was made. The next morning a stop at the McDonalds was made and we ran into a a person who comes to the Wheel Horse Show each year with his brother. He told us that all the old Wheel Horse stuff around Johnstown, Altoona and Bedford had been bought up ..... well no sense hangin' 'round there then. I was contacted after the Wheel Horse Show by a dealer up near DuBois off I-80 that wanted to sell off their old inventory and this was our destination. I forgot the address and phone number but kinda remembered the name of the dealer. Paging through a phone book in DuBois the address was found BUT the place was a lot further west on I-80. So after 300 miles of driving the dealer was found open on Sunday with the owner working the counter ..... WOW what luck! BUT no Wheel Horses were found at the dealer and the owner did not have the time to show us the parts AAAARRRGGGHHHH . It is now late in the afternoon and there is 261 miles of driving to get to the next dealer for a visit. The next dealer I stopped does come to the Wheel Horse Show and he DID have some old Wheel Horses ... not sure if they were for sale though and again no looky at the inventory he had . The next dealer on the list I stopped at did have the old part I asked him for and paid the "healthy price" for it, unfortunately this dealer can not make the Wheel Horse Show but I do see him at the Portland, Indiana show. Well for the whole week of rustlin' though Pee Ya the back of the truck has been empty ...... it was time to get the 854 outside of north Philly. The seller of the 854 was a neat guy who like drag racing bikes and V W's so it was a fun afternoon talking with him. The 854 was taken to my parents house for a major clean up and check over. On Friday we headed over to Windsor, Pee Ya for the Steam O Rama Show, by this time the pains in my abdomen were getting bad but I did make time to talk the people in charge about having Wheel Horse as a featured tractor for the 2008 show (it does look good) We made it back to Virginia Friday night with some rustled Wheel Horse stuff but I am amazed by all the sheds garages and barns that had a 5/8 loggin' chain and railroad lock to secure the doors. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted October 14, 2008 Gee, Bill...... kind of a little snooty passing within 8 miles (or possibly less) of my place and not stopping. <_ src="http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/uploads/default_america.gif" alt=":USA:"> I guess that means your "sniffer" was hampered by the illness and you couldn't smell all the Horses. :banghead:
