BairleaFarm 340 #1 Posted October 14, 2008 Do you just have to take the cables loose and the rear tool box off to get the cable and sheath( ) off? The one on my c160 is no good but the one on the b100 is mint and id like to swap them.
jerrell 1 #2 Posted October 15, 2008 :omg: david, are you just changing the cable or the tube also? if you are just changing the cable you can get a piece of cable and put cable clamps on each end, i replaced the one on my c175, i even moved up to a much bigger cable and it works great, the tube is held in by a clamp under the seat and on top of the trans. just loosen the clamp and pull it out, mine was easy ,no rust so came out freely. i don't know what they call it but there is a piece on each end that the cable slips in, you fold the cable around and use the cable clamps to make a loop on each end. the tube on mine was steel and about 12 in long by 3/8, i bet you could find something to replace it with, you may be able to use a coppe line, easy to bend but may wear out faster :USA:

If you're talking about what I think you are, it's called a "thimble" and TSC or any hardware store that deals in wire rope or cable should have them. They're sized to match the cable being passed around them, and they act to protect the cable both from chafing and kinking at the attachment point. Cheers! jerrell 1 #5 Posted October 17, 2008 :banghead: glad you got it fixed david, and thanks duff i didn't know what that part was called, it always help to know what the name of the part is, i sometimes have to make up names for things like thingy david maybe someone reading this post can help you out with that clamp or you could make one pretty easy, using a conduit clamp from lowes or homedepot,(from the electric dept) matching the size of the tube, mine was made pretty heavy but it only function is to keep the tube from moving and the clamp should hold it.
