520h with 20hp onan

I have a 520h with a 20hp onan that I have been trying to get going. it had been sitting outside for a few years and had some electrical problems.

I am glad to say that I have solved all the electrical problems and she turns over on the key and fired up on starter fluid for a few seconds.

when I went to hook up the fuel line (disconected when I found her) I noticed that the intake nipple side of the pump has broken and of course it is molded into the pump body.

my question is...the pump has two intake ports and two discharge ports on oposite sides of the pump body. durring normal operation only one intake and discharge port are used. can I just flip the pump 180 deg. and use the other two ports (one intake and one discharge?

that makes sense to me...but when I talked to the toro dealer parts guy he said that he had never heard of it and a new pump was about 112 bucks. cant hurt to try can it?

I hooked up the second "in" port and the first "out" port and it was pumping!! it started to turn over and fired for about 30 seconds and then stopped. now when I try to start it it just clicks and the oil pressure light blinks.

what does that mean? add oil?

it means you have a bad oil sensor on the engine block if you find it around the bottom and follow the wires to a plug you can unplug it and it will fire up every time!!! unless you want an oil light?

or change your oil and sometimes it resets itself but i forgot to say if you unplug it it will not charge so if you find the two wires and pull them out of the plug and plug it back in it will charge!!!! copy 10/4 lol
