vtwin 0 #1 Posted October 19, 2014 New here. My 246-H has developed an issue that has stopped the mower (PTO?) from engaging. The problem started with a "start & stop" condition for a couple of days, now it will not engage at all. I noticed the the battery gauge would drop to "0" when the PTO stopped and remains there now. The PTO switch was replaced about 2 seasons ago, while not new it appreas to be functional. The battery meter / gauge is now stuck on "0", while the engine (Onan) starts fine, and battery has been fully (slow) charged, the condition persists. Help! Thanks, John
squonk 43,435 #2 Posted October 19, 2014 Look for a fuse. I had a 210 H with the same issue. Fuse was blown
vtwin 0 #3 Posted October 19, 2014 Thanks Mike, the (3) fuse I see all tested with a tester good. I found an earlier post suggesting I "jump" the PTO I did and it clicked (hard and snappy) so it I take it that it works. Next they suggested I "jump" the pink and grey wires on the switch (key on) nothing happen, nor is there juice to either the pink or grey - key on. Note: With key "on" there is current to the dark purple and black on the switch. Maybe I need to "jump" the seat safety switch and try the pink and grey wires again? I don't have any electrical cleaner so I shot the switch with carb cleaner as well as the back side of the battery meter hoping this might help. Anybody have ideas why the battery meter is at dead "0" with engine running?
JustinW.73 224 #4 Posted October 26, 2014 Is it charging? put a volt meter to the battery and you should get 13 some odd volts. If not, check the rectifier/regulator. One of the wires might of come off. Thats what happened to my Raider.
