Rich Gilbert 1 #1 Posted October 15, 2014 I looked for an instructional video to install a coil on a Magnum 8 Kohler. Maybe I did not go far enough back? Mostly how much to take apart to get at the coil.
boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted October 16, 2014 Technically there is no coil on a magnum 8 horse engine. It uses a magneto ignition system. No points and isn't battery dependent. If you are referring to the ignition module as the coil, it is located under the cooling tin top on the flywheel side. Here is a link to find the service manual for a Magnum. The service manual should show detailed drawings on it's location and how to access it. http://www.kohlerengines.com/manuals/landing.htm Good Luck!
Fordiesel69 271 #3 Posted October 16, 2014 1.) Remove flywheel tin. 2.) Remove magneto mounting bolts, and remove. 3.) Unroute the ground wire & remove from harness plug. 4.) Install magneto and place a .010 brass feeler guage in between the flywheel magnets, and magneto poles. 5.) Re-Route ground wire & reconnect into harness plug. 6.) Replace flywheel tin. I do not believe there is any videos that I have seen.
