OH S##T. Hydro trans drain plug.

Ok.....was getting ready to do a transmission fluid change on my newly acquired 416--h, even though the fluid looks good, the plug is completely rounded off in there. I put a new filter on and decided to seek advice on this. All I can say is %}^{*. ,,! I'm sure my only option is to drill it out and put in a new plug, but I'm afraid I'd get shavings in there from drilling it out. what to do?

Do you mean the allen wrench head drain plug?

some smart folks have welded on a nut

others have used a easy out/extractor

some folks have knocked in a star bit to back it out.

there are a bunch of old threads on this subjuct

some car dealers change the oil by sucking out and avoid a possible strippeddrain plug all together

WH nut

Take a chisel about the size of the allen head and drive into the hole, use a adjustable to grab the chisel

I've always been fortunate enough to have enough sticking out to get a grip with a good vise-grip.

I always change my plugs to the square head plug and get an  8 pt socket to fit.

Glad ya got it out... I thought I was gonna have to go through something similar with my 418A ... hammered in a spare phillips bit ... used a socket to get it out.

Again, glad you got Yours out too

Excellent! I was worried that drilling would have to occur. Definitely don't want any foreign material up inside that pump!
