ri702bill 9,359 #27 Posted October 11, 2014 Zeek: I'll check the RI & local CT & MA CL. If caught, I think a good old fashioned Horse whippin' is in order for the perp, fair justice for a Horse thief. Bill
stevasaurus 23,274 #28 Posted October 11, 2014 Zeek said it was a 50's...good chance it is an RJ (58). If you need to see what they look like...go into the gallery.

cruisnblue48 856 #30 Posted October 11, 2014 Stevasaurus, the pics in the RJ-58 galleries show many tractors with different details. The reason I asked for pics of the stolen horse is for more details to better identify what to look for. The description given to us by Zeek is very generic. A '55-'57 RJ-35 is more likely to have black wheels than an RJ-58. I own one of each and although they are similar, there are very different details, specifically having a 4-speed transaxle or the belt/chain drive. Also not known is if this tractor has an original patina rough look to it or restored fresh coat of new paint.
cruisnblue48 856 #31 Posted October 11, 2014 I'm also curious about the side discharge deck. Unless I'm missing something, didn't all of the RJ's and Suburbans have rear discharge decks? And were there other custom modifications done to this stolen tractor that would make it stand out?
T McCool 287 #32 Posted October 11, 2014 Notifying the local yards is the first thing i would do. Its not like someone scraps a 50's round hood everyday... ill keep an eye peeled on pittsburgh craigslist for the heck of it.
Desko 624 #33 Posted October 12, 2014 If there's one thing I know is a good theif is a dead theif and many other types of people but I shall not go there its just sickening how someone can just take something from someone and not once even think that they could have a deep personal attachment to it maybe it there only thing left to remember someone who is now gone but they don't think about it all they care about is drugs and money
Lagersolut 734 #34 Posted October 12, 2014 With out going into a lot of detail, there was a time I rarely locked things up, if I went to the store or something I'd just close things up and go, the people no longer live there today, but I lost wrenches , screw drivers , garden tools ( the ones Dad gave me when I built the house ) etc etc - the entire family was trash and thieves - their kid robbed our house - he was a doper - up until he was caught by the police I slept with my 9mm on the head board . Today I lock EVERYTHING up even if we run 5 minutes to the store for milk The Smith 9 that was my guard dog I sold, didn't like the gun - trigger sucked, today what barks if they break in is a Ruger GP .357 with fiber optic sights and a hair trigger . P S Install dead bolts on all doors - these punks can open a door with a credit card, store card whatever .
Geno 1,929 #35 Posted October 12, 2014 It seems to be the world we live in now, and I don't like it a bit. That's why I'm constantly trying to go backwards, back to a simpler and better life as much as I can anyway.
km3h 543 #36 Posted October 12, 2014 No I haven't gone up there yet. ignore-smiley.gif I would if I saw it. You guys in Pa. are advised to lock up everything for the next week. I have it on good authority, that Geno will be in the southeast area of Pennsylvania sometime over this coming weekend. May be a rumor, but from what I have been told, there are a lot of Wheel Horse's being stacked up somewhere in the woods up there waiting to be picked up.
Ed Kennell 41,812 #37 Posted October 12, 2014 Not to worry Nick. I have all my Hillbilly cuzins out there in WVa on the lookout for the WH pimpmobile. If you can watch 83, I'll cover rts 15 and 81. Hopefully we can stop him before he crosses the Mason Dixon.
km3h 543 #38 Posted October 12, 2014 An all points bulletin has been broadcast for the lower eastern Pa area for a white Cadillac Escalade towing a big trailer. Pay particular attention to all routs coming from Kentucky.
546cowboy 302 #39 Posted October 12, 2014 Well since I live in the country and not in a state where whiners have not taken over yet , I am well prepared for unwelcome visitors now. It is a sorry state that this country and leadership has gone to over gun control. I never really thought much about needing to be better armed. I had three shotguns and used to keep one loaded where I could get to it easily. Living out in the country there is no use relying on the Sheriff to send a deputy in time to do much good. That's why I now have a CC license and three .45's with a gate I can lock at the end of my 400' driveway.
