Fordiesel69 271 #1 Posted October 6, 2014 I am out of touch with prices as my knowledge is mostly with engines. Bought a complete 314-H, for the sole purpose of the attachements. What ball park would be fair to ask of the tractor itself (i will inculde the mule drive) Assuming it runs good and is in clean used condition, and everything works. PaulC 342 #2 Posted October 6, 2014 From the threads ive seen you do know your engines so.....I got an 86 312-A in good shape with 1175 hrs that has a smoking habit that id be interested in working up a trade with you?? Ive had it for a few years and everything is there and works and it runs good just smokes quite a bit. I have plans to open it up and fix/rebuild it but I have thought about more power for a while so I figured id throw it out there to ya. If you would consider let me know. Sorry I am not going to be of much help with what your after on starting this thread and its usually hard to say because there are so many variables. More info(especially pictures) would help but it'll ultimately come down to how bad you want to sell it. I know for myself being a wheel horse guy I like to value my stuff more then other people do. I would think trying to sell it without any attachments will make it more difficult also, someone looking used because they are a budget or something cant really clear the driveway or mow the yard with it. Fordiesel69 271 #3 Posted October 6, 2014 Mine is worse than yours. It has a smoking habit, and a knocking addiction. I know I could get $150-250 as is, but I plan to fix as I would feel bad if someone bought it, and threw the rod the next day. I am wondering what the typical price is for one in good shape with a good running engine. I will detail the paint and stuff so it looks good. It looks decent the way it is, but could look better. PaulC 342 #4 Posted October 6, 2014 What motor is in that? magnum or command? If your saying it would have a completely rebuilt motor and looking pretty good too my guess(and just a guess) would be in the 500-800 range. But there again with no attachments might be a tough sale unless its to a wheel horse lover.
Irv 115 #5 Posted October 6, 2014 I just sold a '96 314-8 with a 42" sd deck, both in excellent condition with 684 hrs for $800. Of course if it were spring; I would have asked more; probably $1000 Hope this helps
cheesegrader 433 #6 Posted October 7, 2014 With no attachments, I wouldn't expect more than $500. A 520 with a 48 deck and fewer hours will sell here for about $1000. You might do better by finding a deck and asking $7-800 for the package.

But there again with no attachments might be a tough sale unless its to a wheel horse lover. Its the magnum. Rebuilt as in crank turned, new rod (or bearing insert), piston, bored .010 over, gaskets, and hand lapping the valves. The cam, tappets, side bearings, fuel pump, carb, starter, governor gear, valves, all staying original.
WH nut 553 #8 Posted October 7, 2014 I have a hard time paying more than 300 bucks for a tractor with no deck or attachments
Fordiesel69 271 #9 Posted October 7, 2014 Thats what I was afraid of. By the time I rebuild it, I will be giving it away. Good decks and attachements are so hard to find at decent prices, you pretty much have to buy entire junk tractors to get them. Lets face it, as nice as this tractor is, with a bad engine it is pretty much worthless junk. Someone may get one or two seasons out of it, or 2 more hours. Who knows. bmsgaffer 2,053 #10 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) If the body work, trans, and frame are clean then you could sell it as a 'roller' for $100-150 or so. At least it will help offset what you paid to get the attachments and no-one will feel bad that it doesn't run well... There may be someone out there willing to put the money into a true rebuild if they are planning on keeping it or have a magnum to drop in... These tractors are rarely cost effective to 'flip'. WH nut 553 #11 Posted October 7, 2014 Even to find a decent motor to drop in is going to cost a couple hundred.
Ken B 3,189 #12 Posted October 8, 2014 I'd be patient and wait for a good engine to come along. You may wind up finding one cheap or you might have something someone else wants in a trade. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense finanially to rebuild.
