sorekiwi 761 #1 Posted October 11, 2008 Thought this may be of interest to some.... I havent done much on my Lawn Ranger lately as I've been flat out at work. But I have been giving a lot of thought on how to escape Tecumseh Hell. One of the voices in my head (!) kept telling me to "Throw that Tucky in the dumpster and put in a Kohler". So here she is (just a mock-up engine for now). I didnt want to modify the Tucky beltguard though, in case insanity hits me and I decide to go back to a Tucky in the future. So I built a little bracket to bolt to the Kohler to support the front of the tucky belt guard. Bolted to engine. Obviously I'm a long way from trying this out with a running tractor, but I dont see any reason why this wont work. The belt guard has not been modified in any way. Belt guard in place
JimD 3,347 #2 Posted October 11, 2008 that's a definate upgrade on the engine, and a real nice ob on the bracket. personally, i would be too absorbed in the awesome restoration to even notice that it wasn't a te :wtf: seh, or the bracket for that matter. nice job. :banghead:
kpinnc 14,634 #3 Posted October 11, 2008 I like it Mike! My LR has a good running Teccy in it, and I still feel like all the tractor is missing is a Kohler! Keep those pics coming! Kevin

Michael Bullington 5 #9 Posted October 12, 2008 Yes the tecumsehs can be difficult at times, but after working on these for a few years I have actually figured the beast out, One of the main things I have learned is to have a good carb to start with, after that the rest is easy. Let me know if you ever want to sell any of the Wheel Horse Tecumsehs engines 1964 and back. thanks Michael 654 that purrs like a kitten.
