C-125 3-point hitch?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of fabricating a few implements for the C-125 for which I'd like to mount them using a 3-point hitch.  So, first I need to fabricate and install the hitch.

I remember a few months back seeing a thread where someone actually claimed several people had attempted to make a 3 point hitch for their c-series and failed.  Did I read that right?  "Can't be done," to me is like the Siren's song to Ulysses... I like a challenge.  But, after assessing the challenge a little closer, for the life of me I can see no reason a 3-point hitch can't be fabricated for this (or any) tractor.   Is there something I'm overlooking?

Any plans available Stevebo?

I sure lots of Wheel Horses could use a 3-pointer!  :)

Honestly I do not have the plans nor would I do it this way again. I would use a separate linear actuator set up instead of using the movement of the rockshaft.

Stevebo... that's a C-series?   Nice ride, btw.

Also, why not use the rockshaft?  That's how I was going to design it (with the intention of going hydraulic when I have more time).

That is a 88' 520 HC. You will need to make an extension for the rockshaft and the shear on the two bolts will brake them (been there). The other issue is that you cannot run a mower deck or plow when the 3 point is on. I really like the idea of taking a plate and mounting your upper and lower arms on it and a linear actuator on that too. Then just figure out a way to mount it to the machine. It could be sort of universal. It will not cause any issues with running all your other attachments.

A sleeve hitch with a Linear actuator for lift works pretty good .... and I have one with plenty of attachments........I Just bought one with a three point...but what 3 -point attachments that this tractor can handle are available???  That being said ...I will still be forced to find out

I actually made an extension on mine for the tiller, in the hopes of getting another inch or so of swing out of it.  If I understand you correctly, you did the same thing I did?  A 4" flat stock bolted onto what I think it was the rockshaft (located just about the centerline of the tractor, about 6" foreward of the rear wheel) extending it about an inch or so.  The push cable going to the rear is then attached to the new extension?  What size bolts did you use?  I think I used 3/8 or 7/16, IIRC.  Can't imagine that would shear.  I estimated the shear strength in my head at the time.  My calculations could have been off.

I don't use mine for mowing... don't even have a working deck, so that's no problem.  What kind of plow interferes with your 3pt?  Are you using the mid point Tach-a-matic?

Mine is equipped with the tiller.  I was figuring on using the tiller "tach-a-matic" to carry the load welded to a vertical frame (your "plate?").  I think I can rig up some kind quick disconnect on a bracket back to the tractor frame for stability.  The 3pt linkage is then attached to the tractor at the vertical fabricated frame?  Sound about right?  I also had a further idea of incorporating a "pto" into the design.  Using the tiller belt and idlers to get the belt back to the vertical frame where a pulley shaft is affixed.  That way, a modified tiller could be mounted to the 3pt and powered by a short belt.  That would be a trick, but I'm intrigued by the idea.

Thoughts?

Oh, and stevebo, where can I pick me up one of those fancy dancy Brinly-to-3-pt adapters? ;)
