Retired Wrencher 5,733 #1 Posted September 28, 2014 I have a commando 6 that I have trying get running as a hobby or a learning tool about Tecumseh engines.. I put all new under the fly wheel. tried to see if I have spark. as soon as I turned the key there was smoke coming from under the flywheel so seem obvious that there was something wrong with the mag system when I bought it. is there a way to test the mag to see if it is bad. Also I looked in the manual there is a few to choose from all are 12v/3amp. I need the one that has the rectifier sys on it. I would like to find a used one. I do not want to a lot of $$$$$ in this it is just something to fool around with. Any info would be helpful. Gary B......

WH nut 553 #4 Posted October 1, 2014 If you had smoke from the flywheel area you hooked up your mag to 12v. Its shot now that the smoke has been let out
