Nathanielperz 150 #1 Posted September 27, 2014 Hey everyone I need your help. I shorted out the solenoid on my k301 a few weeks ago... I got a new one it is a Trombetta 852-1251-210. I found a schematic on their website on how to wire this in and it pictures a fuse between the battery and the solenoid. Do I need this or can I use it with out it? Here is the schematic I have for it... Installing-Grounded-Plastic-Contactor-with-coil-stud.pdf Thanks in advance, Nate
Geno 1,929 #2 Posted September 27, 2014 No need for the fuse, you can put it back just like it was.
Nathanielperz 150 #3 Posted September 27, 2014 Ok cool what is the fuse for? Thanks, Nate
Geno 1,929 #4 Posted September 27, 2014 To protect the battery and cable if the solenoid shorts out. They prob put it in there for liability type issues where everyone is so sue happy.

Save Old Iron 1,571 #6 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) A fuse wired in that position would have to absorb the full amperage of the starter current. So you would need a 50+ amp fuse - making it useless to protect any other part of the tractor other than the starter.
