combatmp29r 27 #26 Posted July 22, 2008 OK update time. Well I received a care package from Stephen containing a few hydraulic parts. So forget looking for the progression pics I dove into the fab and install :horseplay: Well We've seen the pump so here is the lift cylinder So it needs front and rear mounts theses parts should do Yep that made it clear as mud huh? Lets make it alittle easier to picture: Front Mount (rock shaft ) Rear Mount: Mounting set up: Installed in the new chassis: Here is the pump installed ready to be taken out for paint Of course I had to punch holes in the new paint I think it looks decent though So now waiting on a 2 spool valve and some other goodies. Oh yeah I was looking for the other progression pics too huh? Oh and this will most likely be the last you will see the original V18 chassis that was used for all the fabrication. It has given its life so the V18 can progress, and to refill the parts totes One less thing to trip over in the shop Oh and if anyone wants any better pics of this I have a bunch on photobucket just let me know. Rollerman 290 #27 Posted July 22, 2008 Joel now I know the engine is on the V18 the wrong way....Now looking at the back tire is it on the wrong way too? Haha...looking good Joel & can't wait to see the finished tractor.
combatmp29r 27 #28 Posted July 22, 2008 Well Stephen now that you mention it Actually this comes back to my comment in another thread about my tire fetish I needed something to set the trans on while I used the floor jack elsewhere. Hmmmm I have lots of tires They don't scratch the paint either. That way the paint scratching can be left up to me B)
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #29 Posted July 22, 2008 Kinda gonna stink not having live hydraulics though, isn't it? B)

TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #31 Posted July 22, 2008 "Live" hydraulics is when the pump is connected directly to the power source. (engine, in this case) It will run when the engine is running - whether the machine is moving or stopped. If I'm correct, your pump will stop every time you depress the clutch, correct? That means you will have to take the transmission out of gear and release the clutch whenever you operate your hydraulic lift, which can be a real pain. combatmp29r 27 #32 Posted July 22, 2008 Yep wasn't even close to the same page Yes in theory when you clutch it should stop the pump. At the same time though No matter how much you adjust these things they never seem to declutch totally for more than a day I did ponder going with a hydro rear for that reason, but I'm still not 100% sold on their strength yet. Probably put a hydro in the twin loader tractor though for the shuttle shift style use. Never know if this set up agrivates me enough I may put a hydro in here too. Have to redesign the controls though. No way stock ones will fit in there now LOL.
ChevelleSSLS6 0 #33 Posted July 19, 2010 so.. why are hydraulics needed on a pulling tractor that uses belt drive to the transmission? Thanks, Matt giddyup
