Help with regulator!!!

Recommended Posts

Saber

I transplanted a later 12hp Kohler mag into an 86 310.

The Kohler has elect ignition and runs perfect.

I have 20-40volts AC on the stator leads but no DC on the center DC lead to ground.

I replaced the rectifier/regulater to no avail.

This should work!!!!!!

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance

Mark

Make sure the regulator has a good ground.

I had to run a wire from the regulator to ground on one of mine

Are you testing this with a good charged battery in the system? The regulators need to see system voltage before they can regulate the current. Some even have a decal stating a battery must be connected to prevent damage to other components.

I should have put that in my post, I ran a ground with from the regulator case to the block.

The ground made no difference.

thanks for the reply KC9KAS

Gary:

I am testing for the DC without the lead connected to the battery. Could that be the problem???

Are you going from a k series to a Magnum?

If going  magnum to magnum, you need 12v from the tractor ignition to reg.
