1968 lawn ranger wiring

I've been jumping my wheel horse to get it started because I'm not sure how to correctly wire it. I've looked at the manual for it but I'm still not sure. I have this little box type thing I've never seen before with some wires connected to it and what looks like fuses. All I'm wanting to do is hook up the battery and have the engine keep it charged, a push button start and a kill switch.

Looks like an outboard regulator maybe?  There's a fuse in that board did you check it?

The other 2 bigger fuse looking guys with the black in the center are diodes, if you take them out be careful, they are directional and putting them in backwards will cause some real problems.   They have an arrow on them as to which way power or ground flows.  I can see the direction on the bottom one but not on the top one.

I would also take the connections off of the board, one at a time, and clean them.

Those are diodes (not a fuse) and NLA, but there are other options.

I think Lane Ralph (member Lane Ranger) has made some modifications to make a working unit.

I bet that is on a 6 hp Tecumseh!
