Do you remember??

Do any of you guys remember the first time you sat and drove a horse?  Today was my first time and I had to check my draws for brown stripes....lol   I just shut it down and let my son drive it off the trailer and around the field for a bit.  I just bought a 1975 D-200 with attachments which was posted in an earlier thread.

I'm a large guy and the steering wheel is real real close to the bread basket. My son Ben and I will have to make some changes this winter.....

Anyways, when running her thru her attachments we found the front plow doesn't have enough down pressure.....must be a  adjustment underneath for sure but we didn't have time to look too close.  The PTO belt is hurtin' because the tiller was bogging down along with the mower so I am off tomorrow to order a new one.

I read the manual several times on operating this puppy, er horse, and all my son suggested was "Dad, all you need is more seat time"  I am sure he's right, I just never drove anything like a horse before.

Any suggestions and I do mean any, will be appreciated short of driving off a cliff.......been there done that.

Thanks,

John

I know what you are saying about the closeness of the seat to the sterring wheel. I too am "full figured"!

Some have moved the fuel tank back quite a bit to let the seat go back farther.

I was probably 4 or 5 on my neighbors WH. (Have no idea what it was or year). I think at that age, I was still having trouble with brown strips too.

I'll try to get pics today, but not the stripes........lol  Heading out to buy a new belt to drive the PTO (think that's the term) and that little bracket to stop the PTO from spinning.
