linen beige 15 #30 Posted October 10, 2008 Kinda hard to tell for sure, but that looks like it could be a 953 from the front. The headlight lenses mount inside the buckets on 953s and wrap around the outside of the bucket rim on the 1054 and 1054A. That doesn't mean someone could not have put 953 lights in one of the other models though. Two key differences in the 1054A and the other two is that it used the wider front tires and turf tires on the rear. This one has those features, but many of the other two models were converted to them. I'm not positive, but if it is a 953 it should use the same wiring as the 1054 and 1054A. At any rate, it should not use a solenoid powered from the ignition switch. And the intact light lenses and grill mesh are hard to find. Does it still have the serial number on it? It would be on the tag showing the shift pattern, mounted on the dash tower, just below the dash.
kenbone8383 0 #31 Posted October 10, 2008 the serial number reads- 426 then possibly a 98 or something similar but the first three digits is deffinetly 426. theres a picture of my previous post but its kinda hard to read the last two numbers.
linen beige 15 #32 Posted October 10, 2008 kinda got carried away with the pics huh? Not at all/ I only saw the first one before making my last post. Me now thinks you do indeed have a 1054. The serial number should be consistant with that. (It looks like a 98 to me too.) My 1054A is 50224. I can't really tell how wide the front tires are from these pics, the originals were 4.80X4X8. The rear tires are aftermarket snow type tires. With this size rim you can mount car tires if you need to. I see the ignition switch has been changed and the starter push button has been removed and the hole blanked over. I do not see a solenoid. Where is it mounted? The small wire detatched from th voltage regulator should connect to one of the "run" circuit terminals on the ignition switch. You can strip a little insulation off it and use the old terminal to temporarily clamp it to the tab for testing purposes. I'm curious if the generator warning light comes on. It should light up when the switch is turned on and the engine is not running. it should also come on when the engine is throttled down to around one third speed and lower. It may not be hooked up. Once you get her running you're gonna love her. And the hydro lift makes using the plow a breeze.
kenbone8383 0 #33 Posted October 10, 2008 well it starts with out that wire hooked up at all. would that wire be part of the problem it isnt charging? its disconnected on the other end too. so if worse comes to worse for now i will just charge it with my regualer charger and run it until i get this all fiqured out. and yes that hydro lift does make plowing very easy! i took the plow off to try and clean everything up because im going to be repainting it very soon. i actually already started sanding and scraping some off on the back and did a coat of paint, but its kind of hard to see in the pics. thanks again jim for all your help! and thanks to everyone else too.
