JustHorsingAround 2 #1 Posted September 8, 2014 I'm new to the wheel horse I just bought my first project a 1968 lawn ranger. I have a lot of questions about it. First of all the model number is 1-2631 and by looking on the Internet it should be electric start but this one has both electric and recoil is that normal? Second the original motor for it should be the Tecumseh H60. The motor on mine has 2 ID tags both say h70 but the motor looks just like the h60 are there any major differences between the two besides hp? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Then you will have the option to add attachments. You can add the picture there.. You are limited to 1 mg per picture as of right now.. If the 1 meg is a problem and you can't figure out how to reduce the size you can e-mail it to me and I will post it for you! SousaKerry 503 #5 Posted September 8, 2014 Yes indeed you should have an H60 in there but it sounds like someone along the lines upgraded to the bigger bored h70. Many electric start small HP motors either came with a recoil or someone added it later as these engines will run without a battery just fine. Lawn Rangers are great little machines, nice lines and low to the ground. They still have the nice heavy duty rear end that Wheel Horse was known for so you can whip on them a bit. Most people will undersize the rear pulley a bit as they are pretty slow with the smaller rear tires. How does it start and run? Them Tecumsehs can be challenging to get running right but they will keep up with the Kohlers as long as they are maintained well. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
