I was taught from a very young age that the first thing you did with a piece of ground engaging equipment when it was time to put it to bed for the season was to put a good coating of paint on it. He still has equipment his dad bought new with no rust, and most of the equipment he bought new, for the farm that is. Of course it's all kept inside too.
