876wheelhorse 46 #1 Posted September 4, 2014 Hello since my k321 is smoking a little and some rattling are these very hard to rebuild? Where can I get a kit? I'd need all gaskets rings piston and rod. Hopefully crank not screwed up. I seen some on ebay but are they any good and realiable?
slammer302 2,156 #2 Posted September 4, 2014 They are easy to rebuild you will hear lots of opinions about using aftermarket parts or genuine Kohler parts
kudzu3 323 #3 Posted September 4, 2014 I got most of my rebuild parts from jacks small engines, but if you search the web for the parts you need, you may find some good deals. Personally, I don't trust the ebay stuff, but that's just me.
oldredrider 2,553 #4 Posted September 4, 2014 The kits on Ebay are fine. I use them all the time and have had no problems. Have your cylinder measured before ordering the piston. Bring the new piston with the blocked if it needs to be bored.
876wheelhorse 46 #5 Posted September 4, 2014 I figure worth a shot. Maybe won't need bored or maybe it has already hard telling what it looks like until tear it apart.
Dieselcowboy 210 #6 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Just make sure the head gasket you get has the fire ring in it. I didn't..... and the spark plug in my kit give up in just a couple days. Edited September 4, 2014 by Dieselcowboy
Molon_Labe 731 #7 Posted September 5, 2014 I've rebuilt several Kohler's with ebay kits from a seller in Ohio and all have turned out great. Make sure you get a kit with the 3 piece oil rings .
