JEGibbs 11 #1 Posted August 18, 2014 I recently bought my first Wheel Horse. The Raider 14. Kohler cast iron 14 hp, 6 sp, with a manual pto. Today while mowing the ball bearing gave up the ghost while attempting to disengage the pto. Is there a place to purchace everything to rebuild the pto "bell"? I have done some research and found a few parts lists but I dont want to spend Toro prices. Also, is there a trick to getting the pto lever shaft out of the bearing? It got really hot and the thing is stuck pretty good.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,444 #2 Posted August 18, 2014 The 5196 bearing is replaced by Toro 109842 Napa 7-04250, Rotary 484, Stens 230-033, Stens HD 230-037, Generic 9504AB Remove the handle and the snap ring on the small stub shaft. Remove the snap ring holding the bearing in the pto hub. Pull the hub off the crankshaft. Use a long drift punch to drive the bearing and stub shaft out. Work some new grease into the large needle bearing but don't leave any excess in there so that it runs out under use and spoils the friction disc. JEGibbs 11 #3 Posted August 18, 2014 Maybe I should clarify. The stub shaft, engage handle, and inner portion of the bearing are laying on my garage floor. the ball bearings are scattered throughout the yard and the outer part of the bearing is still in the pto bell. Should the stub shaft (if not siezed to the bearing like mine) slip in and out freely, or is it pressed in and tight? Thank you by the way for the napa number. I'll be able to cross that one easily at my local parts store
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,444 #4 Posted August 18, 2014 The stub shaft should be tight in the bearing. A hammer and punch should take it out. When you tap it back in the new bearing support the bearing by the inner race. You likely already knew that. Garry

PaulHoskins 24 #7 Posted March 31, 2021 I don’t see active links for any of the Raider 14 documents. Can anyone repost them?
squonk 43,726 #9 Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) Another part # for the bearing is 204RR6. Napa has two versions: P204RR6 and a cheaper one PP204RR6 as well as the Prime line 7-04250 Edited April 1, 2021 by squonk
peter lena 9,233 #10 Posted April 1, 2021 JEGIBBS, if you want to, you can use LUCAS , RED AND TACKY ,OR LUCAS HEAVY DUTY GREASE, both have a 550+ temp rating on them , since using this in all my bearings , there is no hi pitched noise or failure . made for hi temps and tough conditions , pete
