99-LS1-SS 7 #1 Posted August 6, 2014 I just inherited a 1967 T-1067 Wheel Horse lawn tractor. The motor hasn't ran in at least 4 years. I need to know part numbers and locations to purchase parts to get this mower running and tuned up. Here is what I think I need so far. If I'm missing something obvious please let me know. Air filter Spark plug Spark plug wire Coil Points Fuel line/hose - mine has come loose from the tank and I would feel better replacing the whole hose. Crank case oil Transmission oil Thanks for any help. Brandon
SousaKerry 503 #2 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) Take the specification numbers off of the engine shroud to any power equipment dealer and they should be able to help you locate the parts you need. If your motor is orriginal it should be a 10 HP Kohler K-241 very common and parts are plentiful. Most of the parts you need can also be found online or at a farm supply store. Crank case oil is SAE 30W best to use a heavy duty (diesel oil) such as Shell Rotella T1, Automotive oils no longer contain the proper additives to ensure longevity of your motor, thank you EPA... Transmission is either F type automatic transmission fluid or SAE 10W30, pull the dipstick and if it is red use the ATF, you should probably change the transmission oil filter as well. Make sure the filter you use is rated for hydraulic applications. Automotive filter although externally the same are different internally and may harm your transmission. Also if you have a TORO dealer near buy they handle any Wheel Horse parts that are still available. If not someone on here surely can help you find what you need. And while you are out buy yourself a carburetor rebuild kit. 8 times out of 10 a plugged up malfunctioning carburetor is why they parked it. Good luck and Edited August 6, 2014 by SousaKerry
rmaynard 16,380 #3 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) Transmission in your 1067 should be a manual. It uses any good transmission oil, SAE 80/90, 85/140 gear lube etc.. Edited August 6, 2014 by rmaynard
rmaynard 16,380 #4 Posted August 6, 2014 A new shifter boot is also recommended it the transmission has been sitting. That's where water gets in. There are any number of threads here on RedSquare that explain the best method of draining and flushing your transmission if it has water in it.
99-LS1-SS 7 #5 Posted August 6, 2014 Thank you for the replies. It definitely needs a shifter boot so I'll hunt one of those down. It has been in a garage for the last 5 years or so, so it may not have too much water in it. I'm going to change the transmission oil anyway.
