just1redone 0 #1 Posted August 2, 2014 I have a 87 310-8 with a 5 1010 8 SD deck that when I am mowing the deck slows down. I put a new 103" belt on it thinking it was slipping but it is still doing the same thing. It seems like the PTO is slowing down. Any Ideas?
Sparky-(Admin) 19,703 #2 Posted August 2, 2014 Is the PTO adjusted properly? The PTO engagement rod/handle should give a bit of resistance when you push it all the way forward to engage the PTO. The end of the PTO rod is threaded and a couple turns of the trunion will add tension if it needs more. Mike............
Geno 1,928 #3 Posted August 2, 2014 Do you smell the clutch burning? If so go by Mike's suggestion.
just1redone 0 #4 Posted August 3, 2014 The PTO rod is adjusted all the way up. Could the belt be too long?
Geno 1,928 #5 Posted August 3, 2014 Just because the PTO rod is adjusted all the way up doesn't mean it isn't slipping.
just1redone 0 #6 Posted August 3, 2014 I took the PTO apart to check the friction disc and that seemed fine. Inner bearing seems fine. Outer bearing seems a little noisy.
