Newbie needs help identifying

Recommended Posts

Deeper

I'm totally new to the forum and old tractors.  I have one that came with a cabin, but I know absolutely nothing about it.  After doing a little research, I'm told it's likely a Wheel Horse.  Can anyone identify it for me, or tell me what to look for? (numbers etc.)   Any information would be appreciated.

It is a Wheel Horse. Somewhere between a 1959 and a 1961, from what I can tell by the pics. I'm sure someone else here will be able to be a bit more specific. Welcome to the forum, and the world of wheel horse tractors! ;-)

Either a 1960 or 1961 Suburban. Motor is a 4hp Kohler so that will make it a 400 if 1960 or a 401 if a 1961.

Has all the signs of a 1960 model 400. Too bad the hood is missing and that gas tank is not original. The metal plate with the serial # would have been mounted on the hood between the throttle and choke levers. You can find pictures of what the hood and levers should look like in the picture gallery.

My thoughts exactly. The hood stand is a 60 BUT....I suspect they used some of that style on the 401's, maybe to use up the inventory :confusion-confused: or maybe a hybrid 60/61???

The mower deck engagement pedal on the right foot peg is from a 1960 deck.

I would say 60 as a couple of guys said. Has the solid pan seat, front rims with no holes, 60 clutch pedal, and 60 mower engage pedal
