HI, I'm new here. Just bought an '89 520HC, what a Blast, I can cut my lawn in four swipes, got it mainly for snow plowing, (came with a dozer blade.) I would like to know what the C in520HC, means.

Thanks dave s

The "C" is for "commercial" model. A little different trim than the regular 520's, and your's should also have the forward swept front axle (I'm 99% sure).

BTW... :banghead:

Hi! Thanks for all the replies, I'm really impressed with the quality that went into these machines, the hour meter reads 550 hours, I don't know if this is average or not, I have to adjust the hydro control as it creeps in reverse sometimes also have to adjust the friction on the shift control (?) as it slows down on it's own, or do you have to hold the control all the time, when it slips into neutral by itself it just about launches me over the hood, this can't be good for the tranny. Stand by for lots of questions.

Hello Dave,

You are correct, the control lever should stay where you put it. Adjust the friction control first and see if the creaping stops.

If you have questions you will find that red square has a lot more answers than radio shack!

And about those pictures..... there is an FAQ that will help you post them when you are ready (hint, please host them on photobucket or flikr, etc).

I look forward to seeing you around the square! :USA: :banghead:

Got the friction set up on the speed control, Now a few more questions and I'll get out of your hair for awhile.

1 When I touch the brakes or shift into neutral this thing really stops fast.

2 I took the mower off, I don't know if this is factory, but there is a groove in the top of the axle where the belt tensioner is located, Its shiny so there has been contact with the pulley.

3 The lift bar is installed with a removable link(like the ones used on trailer safety chains) at the rear, the parts book shows the lift bar and the cross bar as one piece :banghead: This don't seem factory. or is it?
