jerrell 1 #1 Posted September 30, 2008 :USA: in rebuilding the gt-1800 ,( got it to the painting stage and the engine is on the way) i have been thinking i need to have bigger tires all the way around, what is the biggest tires i can put on with out changing the fenders or other mods? it has the standard turf tires on it now, would like lug tires on the back as i am going to use it as a dozer and heavy work plowing and things like that..jerry :omg:
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,606 #2 Posted September 30, 2008 I don't know if I can answer your question correctly, but here's what you can do. Measure the clearance between the tire and the fender with the 23" tire mounted. If you mount a 26 inch tire, then that gap now should be 1 1/2" minimum. Also, keep in mind that different style tires and different brands may vary in size, for instance a Carlisle Super Lug 23" tire may different in size to a Carlisle Turf 23" turf tire and a Duro Super Lug 23" tire. You can use washers maybe to shim up the fender pan if the clearance isn't adequate. :banghead:
Nick 13 #3 Posted September 30, 2008 If a 23x10.5-12 cant do it there is also the 24-12-12 tires. I always bring these up but I have yet to just get a set and try them for myself. Maybe the couple members who have used them will be along.
Curmudgeon 28 #4 Posted October 1, 2008 The Carlisle AT 101 Chevron 24x12x12's a sweet tire. Lugs are only about half as large as most lug tires, but there are more of them. They are listed as 23.8" tall compared to the Super Lug 23x10.50x12 are 22.8" or 22.9" depending on number of plies.
