Got tractor running for a minute

I have a c-100 WH cleaned the point and got it running for a few, but thats it. Probably going to get all new electrical parts. The wierd thing about it is that it turns over with the key when it is getting spark, but when no spark no turn. I thought that was kind of wierd. I should start with new points and go from there. Any Ideas? Just so you know this is my first tractor and I am not to familiar with these k241s Kohler engines,

Check and clean both terminals on the ammeter first, then remove the ignition switch connector and clean all 5 terminals - on the switch and inside the plug.

If that doesn't help, you can try a new ignition switch (P/N 103990) AFTER you verify that all safety interlock switches and the relay are functioning correctly. (most of these have been bypassed by now. )

like TT said check all them switches but if it doesnt turn over it sounds like a ing, switch and most of all make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight :banghead:

Put some new points and condensor, plug on it and it started right up, plenty of spark, drove it around the yard and everything was going great until it died. No spark again. It only gets spark when it turns with the key, but the switch must be bad because it wont crank anymore. When I jump the solonoid wires, it turns over but still no spark. Ordered a key switch last night. Hopefully it works.

I wonder if the coil might be bad. Once it heats up it bites the dust. I'm thinking either that or the power supply to the coil is no good.

I dont think it is the coil, It has to do with the key switch I believe. Will have a new one in by 3:30 this afternoon. I may be wrong, but hopefully this will fix it.

first let me say

I think you are on the right track with the ignition switch. While you are waiting for a new one double check all the connections to it. You can also see if you can spray some WD-40 inside it and then work it back and forth several dozen times to see if you can make it work a bit better.

Also remove clean and check the terminals for cable from the battery + to the switch.
