JUSS10 250 #1 Posted July 1, 2014 So I was using my 1054 the other day and noticed I couldn't lift much with it anymore. Take the load off and it lifts fine, same speed, same everything. Put weight back on and nothing. I checked the reservoir and it is topped off and there isn't any leaks that I can find. I'm guessing this is an internal thing? Is the pump due for a rebuild? If so, can anyone give me some pointers? I know Lane did it once but all the pictures in that thread appear to be gone now. Thanks in advance! Justin
jeremi3210 742 #2 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Probably bypassing in the lift cylinder. Some of them you can take apart and install new orings others are welded. Edited July 1, 2014 by jeremi3210
JUSS10 250 #3 Posted July 2, 2014 I rebuilt the cylinder about a year ago with all new O rings. I don't think thats it.
Lane Ranger 11,395 #4 Posted July 3, 2014 Juss10: O ring inside pump could be worn down. If lift cylinder is ok the big O ring in the pump cylinder may be the culprit. Akso a spring breaking can be a problem as the piston will turn freely but not to the points you need to move the fluid in the pump.
Lane Ranger 11,395 #5 Posted July 3, 2014 These pumps were on the 953/1054 and 1054 -A tractors and various other Wheel Horse models. Many of the pumps had pistons or cylinders that varied (along with the springs) depending on the model pump. Here are some of the old photos of the spring and O ring replacement on the early "rabbit ear" double spring in the 953 and some 1054 Hein Werner hydraulic pumps. Front of pump and handle Pump Fluid Canister (there is a gasket needed on this and you can buy it from the Cub Cadet guys website - as they used these pumps also -NLA fro m Toro) This is the Cub Cadet gasket for the pump fluid canister. The other type of spring on a Hein Werner Hydraulic Pump (The one on left was a previous owner's repair job of a rabbit ear spring that did not work) Photo of the piston and the new O ring and the steel retainer ring for the piston that rests on the piston outside the housing where the 1/2 inch shaft is (a pulley that the pump drive belt uses rides on the 1/2 shaft with one flat side and a set screw)
ol550 830 #6 Posted July 4, 2014 Don't forget there is a relief ball and spring. Broken spring = low pressure.
