Akestner 36 #3 Posted June 25, 2014 Thanks for the info I'm actually looking for the thicker ones my tractor is missing one so if I can't find the thick ones I'll get the ones you sent me the link too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jdleach 525 #4 Posted June 25, 2014 The feller that makes these mats was at the show, and they really are nice. I was pleased to see the material he uses was the same type of heavy rubber matting that I used when I made medical equipment at the family machine shop. Stuff is very durable, and will last a long time. I thought about dragging out some old scraps from inventory and making my own, but with what he is selling them for, it just isn't worth my time to make a pattern and cut them out. Only problem is I screwed around at the show and ended up not getting a set. Now I will have to order them. Grrrrr.

Martin 2,133 #7 Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks for the info I'm actually looking for the thicker ones my tractor is missing one so if I can't find the thick ones I'll get the ones you sent me the link too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk are you referring to the 1996 and up floorboard treads?
Akestner 36 #8 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm assuming those are the ones looking at pics there about 1/4 to half an inch thick Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Martin 2,133 #9 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) You can buy them new still. About $25-$29 ea. I can find the part number, just take a few minutes. Do you have 1996 and up floorboards though? They won't work with the 95 and older ones. Edit: RH 94-3710 partstree $33.69 LH 94-3712 partstree $33.69 Guess they've gone up again in price! Akestner 36 #10 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm assuming I do my serial # is 6900143 but my horse has silver stickers instead of gold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Martin 2,133 #11 Posted June 26, 2014 You have a 96 serial. Easiest way to tell is the footrests are the same width as the seat pan where they meet. The footrest is shaped more where the older ones are more rectangle shaped and are a few inches short of the edge of the seat pan. These are 95 and older ones in the pic.... . Martin 2,133 #16 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) The fronts are 16 x 6.5-8 on JD rims. If you look in my sig there's a whole thread on this tractor and the other 416s. Oh, and it's onan powered. Lane Ranger 11,394 #17 Posted June 26, 2014 I just ordered a set of the floorboard mats that Eldon makes (classickitchensandmore.com) for a 1990 312-8 I bought on Tuesday. I met Eldon at the Big Show in Gettysburg and did not get to see them for sale in the swap meet area -but of course I did not need them at that time anyway!

jdleach 525 #19 Posted June 26, 2014 Nice tractor Lane. Sorry I didn't get to meet you at the show. In fact, most of the forum members here I somehow missed meeting.

Been using skateboard grip tape for years. One piece, cut nice on the paper cutter, stick it on. 'Bout $10 for the good stuff on sale. I've had skateboard tape on some of my Horses for years! jdleach 525 #21 Posted June 27, 2014 I have to agree with Tankman on the gritty foot mats regarding longevity. Stuff reminds me of "non-skid", a substance mixed with deck paint and applied to the weather (outside) decks of Navy ships. The non-skid floor mats get a bit of a bashing here on the forum, and admittedly, it ain't near as pretty or impressive looking as the rubber matting, but it sure does function extremely well, and is durable as hell. The mats on my 312-8 are 29 years old, and still look nearly new. The above said, I will still replace my original mats whenever I get around to repainting my tractor. Just like the looks of the rubber.
jdleach 525 #22 Posted June 27, 2014 Stuff reminds me of "non-skid", a substance mixed with deck paint and applied to the weather (outside) decks of Navy ships. Which reminds me.... I don't think I will ever forget the joy of vibrating my arms off using a "deck crawler" removing old non-skid from the scorching hot deck of a destroyer in mid August. Something everyone should experience at least once in their life.

A sole survivor, wasn't allowed to go FMF Pacific (Viet Nam). Never used a deck crawler but took awhile to develop my sea legs! Loved the cruises! jdleach 525 #24 Posted June 27, 2014 Was on and off the USS Guam, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic, '64-'68. Two Caribbean cruises and two Med. A sole survivor, wasn't allowed to go FMF Pacific (Viet Nam). Never used a deck crawler but took awhile to develop my sea legs! Loved the cruises! Thanks Squid! You are one of the odd jarheads. Most of the Marines we ever had aboard my destroyer detested the ship. Said they couldn't understand how we could stomach the cramped conditions, noises, odors, and constant pitching. We just told them we didn't like steamy jungles, C-rations, being cannon fodder, and besides, we liked having bigger guns instead of pea-shooter M16's. From a Squid to a Navy Bellhop. In all seriousness, thank you for serving. Jokes aside, any man who is willing to give up a number of years of their life for supporting something greater than himself, is a man worthy of my respect and friendship.
