persof 14 #1 Posted June 23, 2014 I saw a 42" RD deck for one of the wheel horse Xi tractors and I am wondering if I could remove the xi hardware and replace it with regular WH 42" RD deck parts and use it on my 312-8? Thanks Francis
boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted June 23, 2014 There is no way of knowing unless you actually hold up the hangers from a C/300/400/500 Series tractor to it and make sure everything clears and isn't in the way of the pulley/belt. If the deck is deeper you could have issues hitting the rear wheels. The deck itself looks like a rear discharge deck for the C/300/400/500 but just looking at it isn't enough to guarantee it would fit.
persof 14 #3 Posted June 23, 2014 Every thing is bolted on the standard deck and some things are welded on this XI deck
Forest Road 594 #4 Posted June 23, 2014 Looks like it should work. I'd certainly give its a try.
persof 14 #5 Posted June 24, 2014 It would be a $400.00 experiment?
doc724 925 #6 Posted June 24, 2014 There is another similar post on this same subject. Go to Partstree and look at the P/N of the shell for the xi deck and the standard deck. If they are the same, then you can swap all the hardware that affixes the deck to the tractor. If not, look for another deck.
Forest Road 594 #7 Posted June 24, 2014 My horses are at our vacation home so I can't go and check. Based on passed experience swapping and rebuilding decks..... The front hangers appear to be in the same position as a classic deck. And the 4 bolts in the rear look identical to the mounting bracket location as well. So it should just bolt right on. I think you could get it mounted up regardless of those welded brackets. Can you bring an old deck and lay it next to this one? Side by side i bet you could make the decision as to whether or not it'll work.
