Sparky-(Admin) 23,147 #2 Posted June 18, 2014 Well that sucks! I was under the impression that a seller couldn't cancel bids or the auction when it hit the final 24 hour mark ? Mike..........
fireman 1,022 #3 Posted June 18, 2014 That's because some scumbag emailed the seller and made him an offer outside of Ebay he couldn't refuse. Hate when people do that!
seuadr 489 #4 Posted June 18, 2014 Well that sucks! I was under the impression that a seller couldn't cancel bids or the auction when it hit the final 24 hour mark ? Mike.......... i dunno - never had that happen so never thought about what the rules are. He was not yet at the 24 hour mark, though. It feels a little shady, but i suppose it is his item to sell to whom and how he wants :shrugs: This did strengthen my resolve to buy a welder and build my own.

alswagg 128 #6 Posted June 18, 2014 That has happened to me alot on Ebay, Everything from front seats for trucks to a small bulldozer. I was lucky to find my D 180 with a front end loader and back hoe. Had to travel 1,500 miles round trip but it was worth it. Al
Snowmobileaddict 403 #7 Posted June 18, 2014 Pretty sure the 24 hour thing is for making any changes to the item description. The seller can cancel at any time I thought.
CasualObserver 3,411 #8 Posted June 18, 2014 It feels a little shady, but i suppose it is his item to sell to whom and how he wants :shrugs: Exactly right... I'd prefer this 100 times over to the guys that schill bid their own stuff.... they run your bid until you lose, and then the same item shows back up anywhere from a day to a week later... and sometimes they're even stupid enough to leave feedback to/from the other ID!! Ebay doesn't care though... especially if they still get their final value fee. I know of a few people who do what happened to you... they're just using Ebay more like Craigslist.... get the free advertising, then cancel any bids and sell privately off-site so they don't have to pay the final value fee. As greedy as Ebay is... I really don't have a problem with that.
