MalMac 1,333 #1 Posted June 5, 2014 I have what I consider a odd ball problem when starting this K321. When the tractor is cold and beign fired up for the first time of the day. I put the choke on, set the throttle at about half, hit the key and it fires up instantly. Now when it starts you have to take the choke off then it starts to die then put the choke right back on I have mess around with the choke from full choke to no choke to partial and in between. You have to do this several times for the first 15 to 30 seconds to keep it running, after that it smooths out. Take the choke off and away you go. Runs like a champ all day long, strong as a mule even though it's a horse. I can shut if off let it set for two three hours go out fire it right back up with no choke and not a problem. Let it overnight and go through it all again. Never had a engine start so easy then carry on like it does then come out of it and run as strong as it does. I have messed around with adjustments but I can not get it to cold start any better. As good as it runs it's something I can live with just a pain in the backside when cold starting. Was thinking it might be a sloppy throttle shaft but very little play if any.
oldredrider 2,553 #2 Posted June 5, 2014 I have a K321 that did the same thing. Played around with different starting methods and found it liked full choke and no throttle. It can sit for weeks but starts right up every time.
rmaynard 16,550 #3 Posted June 5, 2014 I'm thinking that you have a weak or sluggish fuel pump. I had the pump on one of my K241's do the same thing. It would start with a very weak stream, but after the engine warmed up, the pump worked much better. Let it cool and it did the same thing all over again.
