Rubber Dibbles-Vinyl End Caps

Recommended Posts

jdleach

That is what I call them, the little black vinyl end caps on the Tach-Matic release buttons and the attachment lift lock release button. Where do you guys find them? I have looked around town here, and the ones stocked at the hardware stores are color coded as to size. The 3/8" ones are all green, regardless of the store. Of course what I need are black.

Found several internet sites that sell them in bulk, but I really don't need 106 of the little rubbery buggers, just about 6 or 8 for when I lose one.

So, what you need to do is make one bulk purchase of a couple hundred, keep 10 for yourself, then pass out 5 to all the members on Red Sq....  we all need a few of them.

I have seriously thought about that Dave, just didn't know if anyone else had already done that. Don't wish to step on any toes.

Check with vendor Glen Pettit here on Red Square. I am pretty sure that is who I got mine from.

I think there are several vendors selling bags of 10 for a couple dollars.

If anyone not going to the show needs some, let me know. I will pick them up for you and mail them out Monday after the show.

Those 3/8" end-caps in Black,  yes we have them;    only $2/dozen caps,  (17¢ @).

They are very light, best to get them with another purchase because shipping costs more than the dozen caps ($2.32 USPS).

They are used on at least five different items on our later Horses, (most any 3/8" rod):                     (not oem, but very similar)

Deck Height Control Rod,   Lift-Lever Rod,   Front Lock Rod,   Mid-Hitch Lock Rod,  and  Snow-blade Lever Angle Grip.

Use a drop of rubber cement (like for tire repair) under each cap to keep them on long-term (also good for knobs), and to

keep these caps and knobs looking new and shinny black, use "Meguiar's Protectant" regularly.

We also have the UPPER Spindle caps, in Black or in Red, 1.4"ID, that go on the axle end of the

front wheel spindle (the Spindle end that really needs the protection, every WH should use this one);  $1 @ or $8/dozen.

The lower 'Red Flex Logo' Spindle Cap, inside the front wheel, are 1.5"ID, (shown in Vender site here).

I bought a big box of 5,000 of those small 3/8" caps for $150, delivered; probably a 50-year supply or more.

Well, that answers that. Will give you a PM Glen.

And for those who wondered, .17 cent per is a very good price. Many of the ones I looked at were considereably more expensive. As Glen said, buying in volume really brings the price down. There were some clowns on the 'bay selling 10 for $10.99. One producer would sell a "micropak" of 106 for about .23 cents per. You have to buy a s**t load to get down to Glen's price level.
