chief7 0 #3 Posted May 30, 2014 thankyou so much for the pictures. the wire that goes below the bowl and seems to start at the square piece of metal on the side could you maybe send a few more pictures please. it seems like two different wheels.i don't understand the metal ssquare to the leftof the carb. the one picture seems to show the choke but I could not see the throttle. could I see just a few more pictures please? it means so much to get this right. my carb seems to have a spring on it don't know what it attaches to. but thankyou so much for the pictures that you did post. just made up more questions. chief7 0 #4 Posted May 31, 2014 to the wonderful person trying to help meit appears the throttle linkage comes over the top of the engine and pivots on the front side of the cover. is ther any chance you might have a spare set of linkeage I don't have any only the cables. I know its a lot for a stranger to ask but I have to. its my only wheelhorse that I desperately want to get running. answer if you can thankyou don
chief7 0 #5 Posted May 31, 2014 red square pro, sorry I feel all thumbs trying to understand this computer and ask what I need so badly. I have the whole 502 down to the carbureator. I can get it mounted and I have the two cables both choke and throttle but that's it no linkeage at all going to the carb, the metal square to the left of the carb that travels under it and pivots on the right iam missing it all. can you help? don
sorekiwi 761 #6 Posted May 31, 2014 Happy to try and help Don. Yes the throttle cable does come over the top of the motor and attaches to the linkages on the front of the flywheel shroud. (Sorry I dont have a spare set of linkages for you, I did have a set a few years ago but sold them to someone in a similar predicament to you). If you go to the "Manuals" section of this site, and download the "Tecumseh 3-11hp Engine Manual" you will find a picture of the linkage on page 31. It is the picture marked "Horizontal Medium Frame". The "metal square" that you mention is attached to a centrifugal governor gear inside the engine. The top end of this "square" is linked to the throttle plate of the carb. The bottom end of this square attaches to a bellcrank that is in turn attached to a spring that is tensioned by the throttle cable. Its a little complicated until you look at it for a while. The choke cable comes in from the right side of the tractor (right side when sitting in the seat and looking forward). It goes over the top of the motor, and the outer is attached to the bracket you see over the carb. The inner part of the cable attaches to the arm on the choke plate on the carb. If you need more pictures, give me a yell, I still have this motor buried in the garage, I can dig it out if you need me to.
