Skyler 0 #1 Posted September 23, 2008 Hi, I have recently purchased my first Wheel Horse. It is a model 1966 model 1076, 10HP with a HY-6 Hydro. It seems slow in reverse and will slow me down when snowplowing. I can't tell you how slow it is, but it seems it should be faster. Any thoughts on this? Also if anyone has a hydraulic lift cylinder part#6618 or crossed over to a #105254 for sale, I probably need it as my mowing deck won't stay up very long (30-45 seconds). I have heard they can be cut, rebuilt and re-welded. I just have not found a place yet. Thanks in advance for any replies. Cal
Duff 206 #2 Posted September 23, 2008 Hi, Cal, and ! One of our other members should be along shortly to answer your questions since I don't know anything about the 1076 (except it's a great tractor!). I just wanted to wish you a warm welcome to our fold! Lots of great folks and a ton of knowledge around here! Oh...and as everyone here will tell you, Cheers! T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,606 #4 Posted September 23, 2008 :USA: Follow this link to a good informative thread on hydros. The speed in reverse per the manual for your 1076 should be 0 - 3.5 mph. If you aren't getting close to that, then I would check the fluid level first, and also it wouldn't hurt to change out the fluid and the filter. Outside of that, I'm afraid I'm of no help. :banghead:
bell 11 #5 Posted September 23, 2008 My 876 is also slow in reverse... I would guess that it is about 1/4 of full forward speed... Is that about how slow yours is? I changed the fluid and filter (use only a Toro filter on it) and it made a WORLD of difference! Good luck with it, I love mine.... If the 8hp Kohler hadn't started making noise, I'd still be using it right now... I hope to give her a rebuild soon.... BTW, :USA:
