Electric Fuel Pump

Recommended Posts

stlouisjoe

I have recently purchased my first wheel horse C141 I put a new carb on in #30 it had a Cub #26 that was in bad shape. My problem now is that it will flood out the carb. I never did have it running with the old carb on it. It is a low pressure fuel pump. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try. It is the square gold fuel pump. I have tried 2 new carbs on it so far so I am sure it is not a bad carb. Could I lower the voltage to the pump to lower the pressure.

Thanks

If I am not mistaken the #30 carb is a bigger bore carb than the #26 and the engine may not be pulling enough vacuum for the bigger bore carb. Maybe someone with more experience than I have could chime in, Mark.

The electric fuel pump may be putting out too much volume or pressure.....There is a difference between volume & pressure.

id check the float after checking the fuel pump,if the float has a pin hole,or dirt in the float valve this will happen, you could put a temporary tank above the engine that uses gravity to deliver fuel, this will tell you if its the pump,or carb rel;ated

Thanks for the ideas guys. I am almost sure it is the fuel pump. I keep getting rusty like fuel out of it when I run it at first but no metal except for the fuel pump. Not sure. I think I will try the temp tank above motor tomorrow. If I can come up with all I need.

Well I put a gravity feed fuel tank on and it ran fine so it looks like it is time for a new fuel pump.
