RM 364 mower deck

I have a RM 364 mower deck. On one of the hanger assembly ( part #4114 ) arms the ball joint has pulled out of the socket. Can anyone give me an idea how to repair it. Better yet, where can I get a replacement hanger assembly preferably NOS. All help greatly appreciated.

Here is the schematic, but I don't see # 4114.  Which item is it in this schematic?

Its not a perfect fix, but I have drilled through, tapped and ran a bolt.

I really wish there was a better way to completely rebuild these decks. I have the same issue on most of mine. I enjoy mowing with my older wheel horses but time just wasn't nice to these older decks. I have grabbed a punch and after sticking the ball back in the hole, flare it in a bit. It works but it will likely be a temporary fix. I have thought of rebuilding the whole hanger system on these with newer ball joints but now have a newer wheel horse for mowing with.

I have a couple of GM inner tie rod ends for rack and pinion steering I want to try sometime. The socket screws onto the rack. My thought was to drill the cross shaft and bolt the ball socket to the shaft and weld the other end to the original drawbars  May have to make a heavier cross shaft so the bolt holes don't take to much away from it. Should last forever.

Justin,

Thanks for the reply. My 855 with the RM 364 deck still has a better cut than than my newer C160 or the TroyBilt GTX20 ( Bolens )with FEL that I use. My son lives in South Bend and was able to find a near new RM 364 deck shell for me. The seller threw in some running gear as well but that had the ball & socket joint problem as well. Last night I coated the ball and socket with Welco Kleen Green and carefully built up a bead around the ball with my Mig. It seems pretty strong. We will see how well it holds up.

I have one that someone welded around as well. It has held up the best out of all the fixes I have seen, it was just ugly. I agree, the cut on those old decks was amazing. I have been trying to come up with a way to drive them with a timing belt to get rid of all the gears and cross shaft. That is the other thing that seems to go out, the gears start to wear down and fail. Maybe one day I'll get to it....

I find the biggest thing with those decks is the cross shaft bearings start to go and spin on the shaft causing them to get loose on the shaft. Then the shaft drifts back and forth banging the gears.
