Welsh Wheelhorses 8 #1 Posted May 19, 2014 I have a wheel horse c160 with 48" deck I am restoring, but the spindle housings are badly corroded and unusable. I have repaired the deck shell and am on the lock out for spindle housings, I've found housings for a raider 42" deck which look better ( cast, and grease able) will they fit? I have repaired the deck shell and am on the lock out for spindle housings, I've found housings for a raider 42" deck which look better ( cast, and grease able) will they fit? Are the ones from the Raider 42" deck cast IRON like the 1st pic here, or its it cast ALUMINUM like the pic of serveral spindels. If it is cast IRON, that would be an older spindle using the 'Double-D' pulleys and blades. The newer cast ALUM spindles take pulleys to fit a 5/8" dia shaft and some are 3/4" shaft using woodruff Keyways. The grease zerk in in the TOP of the spindle shaft, not off to the side like the older cast iron style. Here are a coupld pics.... My direct email is: daveoman@windstream.net I can provide either style. For further info, can contact me at that email link (just click it).
