Fordiesel69 233 #26 Posted May 22, 2014 Aluminum engines are not alway bad like people think. Its all in the maint. Just like briggs are junk and kohlers are the cadillac. It has little to do with that, more so if the oil was changed, and if the air cleaner was taken out and tossed. I have an 1963 all aluminum briggs 3HP push mower, and the cylinder is still great. Its becuase the air filter and oil is changed accordingly.
atrus5 0 #27 Posted May 23, 2014 Aluminum head and block. Not sure if sleeved. Won't know for sure which way to proceed until I get to it and how much it needs. But I will head down the repair/tune/rebuild path until I see what it needs and then decide from there. But it is still running for now and I have other hotter projects like a leaky roof. I just wanted to start investigating my options on the Wheel Horse. Thanks again for all the thoughts on the topic.
