However I can hear a definite gear whine from the flywheel side. Any ideas? I was thinking it may be a worn flywheel side ball bearing. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

oldredrider 2,548 #8 Posted May 23, 2014 I think you've answered your own question. Gear whine. When you re-ringed it , did you spec all the clearances..governor gear, crank end play, cam end play and those pesky balance gears? If not, tear back into it before the block gets ventilated. Make sure the main bearings are still free. The bearing plate and shroud act as an amplifier which would make you think it's on the flywheel side. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
