Horse Play 393 #1 Posted May 16, 2014 My tractor is 95% finished and I have something I cannot solve that is baffling me. My belt guard vibrates a good bit and is only attached at two points: at the engine block and at the top of the seat box by the shifter. I see on all other short-frame tractor one or two bolts attached in the lower openings of the guard - but there's nothing to attach to on my tractor in this area. Am I missing something here? wallfish 18,087 #2 Posted May 16, 2014 Yeah, you must be missing the mount tabs. They're just a small piece of steel bent into a Z shape and welded to the frame in those locations. They have a hole in them which are tapped for a 1/4-20 bolt to hold the guard. I'll see if I can get you a pic when it stops raining tomorrow. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
stevasaurus 23,277 #3 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Those bottom bolts may not be attached to the horse...just holding the guides for the drive belt. Sometimes those are spot welded from the inside. There probably only is 2 places where it attaches. My 857 only has 1...at the moment. See what Walfish comes up with...you may also try to down-load the manual for your horse...it may show what is supposed to be there. rmaynard 16,293 #4 Posted May 16, 2014 My 857 had the tabs broken off. Lucky for me, they were still attached by the bolts to the rear of the belt cover. I re-welded them back onto the frame and after a little tweaking, everything lined up fine. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
