PGRNPA 0 #1 Posted May 11, 2014 Hi all, back with another problem. I replaced the points/condenser in February when I couldn't keep it running while blowing snow. The points were no good. Now different symptoms. Runs on idle but when I advance the throttle it acts like it's fuel starved and starts shaking, back down to idle and it's fine. Carb. adjustment makes no difference. Had carb. cleaned and refurbished. Fuel pump works as it spurts when the line is removed from pump to carb. and engine is turned over. Points look fine, saw spark when turning engine over. One common denominator seems to be it's ok cold but problems occur after warming up. New inline fuel filter. After putting it back together and making adjustments last night, I drove around the yard for a few minutes before it acted up again. Tried adjusting the high idle screw and couldn't keep it running. lobo 22 #5 Posted May 11, 2014 Hello PGRNPA, Sorry to hear your having problems. I also have a C-100, 2nd owner, 20+ yrs. and it can be exasperating to say the least. But to your problem, had the same one not long ago, try and take the gas tank out and check the screen, I had a small ball of resin in the shutoff valve. Hope this helps, good luck, hagd. PGRNPA 0 #7 Posted May 11, 2014 Steve, thanks for the tip. Back in Feb. when it turned out to be the points/condenser, I had removed the tank and removed that screen as it appeared quite old. Also added a new clear fuel filter at that time too. Used a couple more times after the points being replaced and no issues until now. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
PGRNPA 0 #8 Posted May 13, 2014 Update: I found a large puddle under it the other morning and thought it was gas but turned out to be oil. The side of the blower housing facing the hood was wet, the left side of the front axle was wet. Looked like maybe it came through that drilled hole. Checked the dipstick and the level was way up and diluted. Yep, smelled like gas. Drained the oil and got 1 and 3/4 qts. out. Yikes! Would the carbureator have caused this and now that it was cleaned and refurbed would that solve the issue? Would this explain the engine shaking and sputtering too? oldredrider 2,553 #10 Posted May 16, 2014 Most likely, the fuel pump has a leak allowing fuel into the crank case. Draining the oil/gas and refilling with fresh oil is fine but you need to fix the cause of the problem before running. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
