Homemade tiller gasket

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever attempted to make a gasket for the tiller case halves? I have cut smaller gaskets, but nothing this large. I tried ultra black sealant, but it leaked. If so, what thickness to use?

I used ultra black on mine, applied liberally - then only loosely tightened the bolts, let dry for 24 hours then fully torque them. No problems as of yet.

I used gasket material bought from the local auto parts store, .030" thick. Took about two hours to carefully layout and cut.
